About Us
Bridge Street Veterinary Hospital was officially established on April 1, 1998, and became AAHA accredited the very next year. Dr. Buhrows-Leach had a particular vision in mind when she opened the hospital. After working in many practices over the years, and seeing many things that she felt were disheartening, like corner cutting and inconsistent care and quality, she decided that she wanted to open a hospital that was different. A hospital that focused on providing exceptional care to each and every patient, every single time. This concept remains a core value of our practice to this very day, and is something you will experience from the very first visit.
We are a full service animal health care facility offering a full range of comprehensive medical, dental, diagnostic and surgical services, as well as critical care and professional boarding. Our patients include just about all manner of small household pets, including dogs, cats and small mammals. Whether it’s a routine check up, an advanced diagnostic test, a surgical procedure or something else, we’re prepared to provide your pet with the precise care he or she needs, each and every time you come to the hospital.
Our hospital is designed to make our clients and their pets feel comfortable, at ease and right at home, from our warm, family-friendly reception area to the soothing music and relaxing pheromones wafting through the hospital. Every detail was carefully thought about and chosen to create a welcoming, professional patient and owner experience. In fact, everything we do at BSVH is done with the purpose of making visits to the vet something positive and fun – especially for nervous patients.
The team at Bridge Street Veterinary Hospital has been carefully chosen for our love of animals, and the passion we share for caring for them. Veterinary care isn’t just a job for us – it’s a chance to make a difference in the life of an animal, every single day. It’s touching lives; it’s seeing sick pets become well again; it’s sharing in the joys and sorrows that pet owners experience and feeling those emotions right alongside them.
One of the things that sets BSVH apart from other veterinary hospitals is the special attention we pay to the comfort of our patients. Our staff is trained in gentle handling techniques, and we have a knack for calming even the most anxious of animals. Patients are always touched and spoken to throughout all exams and procedures. You may even hear us singing soothingly as we go about our day to day work! We are also certified by the American Association of Feline Practitioners as a cat-friendly practice, offering special care for felines, who often need a little extra TLC when visiting the vet.
Along with our dedication to providing the best possible care to each patient we serve, we are also committed to continuing to improve our practice, our available treatment options, our services and our policies. We strive to always improve upon client interactions and patient care through regular evaluations and continuing education. We are proud of our AAHA accreditation, a designation that demonstrates the high level of care to which we adhere and a title shared by only 3% percent of animal hospitals in Canada.
Bridge Street Veterinary Hospital is also dedicated to giving back to the community. Not only do we work in the Waterloo area, but most of us live here as well, and we love running into our clients and patients around town! We support the community through donations, gift baskets for neighborhood events, sponsoring events such as the Trigator Kid’s Triathlon and the Eastbridge Chase and we fundraise for various charities including the Humane Society, Farley Foundation, Pet Food Bank, All Breeds Rescue Organization and The OVC Pet Trust Fund.
At Bridge Street Veterinary Hospital, we know that you have plenty of choices when it comes to veterinary care. So why should you choose us? Simple. Because you won’t find the same level of personal care and individualized attention anywhere else. With us, you’re never just a number – you’re a part of our family. This is made evident in the way we treat each patient we serve – with the same level of care and compassion as if they were our very own. At BSVH, you can trust that your pet will always receive the best possible care, each and every time you visit.
Your pet is an important part of the family. Doesn’t he or she deserve the very best? We invite you to come in and experience firsthand what a difference our personal care truly makes. We look forward to meeting you and your furry, feathered or scaly friend, and hope for the opportunity to become your trusted veterinary partner for many years to come!
