Veterinarian

Dr. Tracy Buhrows Leach

From the young age of four years old, my dream was always to become a veterinarian. I have always had a strong love of animals of all kinds and helping them to live their best lives is the perfect career choice for me. Graduating in 1993, I have seen a lot of amazing changes within my profession and am thrilled to embrace Fear-Free and Cat-Friendly patient care. I adore senior pets and every little milestone along the way – from kitten or puppy to this wonderful stage of life. Helping pet parents have all the information and tips to care for their pets makes me happy. I have always had a house full of pets and currently have two huskies, a malamute, a canary, a turtle, an iguana, and a crested gecko. In my spare time you’ll find me in my kayak, in the garden, or somewhere immersed in nature!

Hospital Manager

Sasha

I spent my entire childhood surrounded by animals and was always begging my parents to adopt more! I have an educational background in the biological sciences and human healthcare and began my animal care career in a research setting, later moving on to work with companion animals. Now in my eighth year working in the veterinary care field, I have developed an increased interest in practice management and the larger scale issues that impact our patients, clients, and staff. I am passionate about standard of patient care, maintaining quality relationships with our clients and the greater community, and the well-being and personal development of staff members within the veterinary field.
Veterinary Assistant

Niloo

From a young age I have been fascinated by animals and their behaviour, which led me to study veterinary medicine in Iran. While treating animals, my interest in behaviour and welfare grew and, in addition to working as a veterinary technician's assistant, I am now pursuing a master's degree in animal science at the University of Guelph, focused on dog behaviour. I share my life with two lovely Alaskan Malamutes and a black German Shepherd. In my free time I enjoy nature photography and hiking. I am thrilled to be part of this team!
Patient Care Assistant

Ever since I was young, I’ve loved every single animal I’ve met. I have 2 cats, a dog, and lots of fish, but I still want to adopt all of the animals in need of a home. I believe that each and every animal deserves the best care possible, no matter what. I always knew I would end up working with animals, so doing my co-op placement at a vet clinic seemed perfect, and it turned out to be the best educational experience I’ve ever had. I’m so grateful that I’ve had this opportunity to meet wonderful people (and pets!), gain hands on experience, and know for sure that I want to pursue a career in the veterinary field. My goals for the future are to apply to programs including Zoology at the University of Guelph and Pre-Veterinary Medicine at Dalhousie University, and I eventually hope to apply to the Ontario Veterinary College.
Veterinary Assistant

Shawna

I have always loved animals and have had a great connection with all creatures since a young child. The first job I dreamed about doing was becoming a veterinarian but I ended up becoming an Early Childhood Educator for 10 years. Later, I decided to follow my dreams and go back to school as a mature student to complete a Veterinary Assistant program. I am so happy and grateful that I made the switch, this is definitely a rewarding career that fills my bucket! I currently have 3 cats, a dog, and a bearded dragon and I am looking forward to helping and loving more animals in the future. I can't wait to meet you and your fur babies.

Co-Op Program

Bridge Street Veterinary Hospital is proud to support both secondary and post-secondary students in their education and work experience by collaborating with high schools and universities to bring more compassionate individuals into the veterinary industry.

For as long as I can remember animals have been an essential part of my life. Growing up, my friends knew my house as "the zoo" because of all the different species of pets I had. I had rabbits and mice to lizards and birds and of course a dog and cats! I now have 3 kitties, Sky, Jasper, and Pixel! I currently attend UWaterloo as a biology undergrad student with the goal of attending OVC in the future to become a veterinarian. This is why I feel so grateful to be working as a veterinary assistant at Vets on Bridge. I am very passionate about the wellbeing of animals which is why I look forward to caring for your furry loved ones.

Growing up I have always been very interested in animals. I grew up with 3 dogs and 2 cats, and I now have 2 dogs and a cat of my own. When I take my pets to the vet and watch how they do things I always imagined myself doing that job: caring for animals and educating pet owners. I am so grateful to be doing my co-op placement here at Bridge Street Veterinary Hospital. Gaining hands on experience, learning the roles and the tasks at a veterinary hospital and meeting new people has been amazing and now I am positive that I want to join the veterinary field.

I am currently obtaining an Honours in Biology with a minor in Medical Physiology and specialization in Animal Biology at the University of Waterloo. I plan to continue my studies in Veterinary Medicine and obtain a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in the coming years.
As a Veterinary Assistant / Receptionist at BSVH my favourite part of the day is getting the opportunity to meet your cute animal companions and help provide compassionate care for every pet who walks through the door!

Since I was a child, I've known that I wanted to work with animals, so doing my co-op placement at Bridge Street Vets seemed like the ideal decision. So far, my co-op experience has been amazing. I've learned so much while meeting some wonderful people and getting to help animals.
