Wellness & Vaccinations

Have you ever been tempted to cancel that upcoming vet appointment because your pet seemed perfectly healthy? Maybe you reasoned with yourself that you’d save the time and money and just reschedule the next time your pet gets sick or becomes injured.

Would it surprise you to know that bringing your pet in for a checkup once a year, regardless of whether they appear to be healthy, can actually save you money over time? More importantly, it can add years to your pet’s life and improve the quality of those years exponentially.

Because companion animals age at a much faster rate than humans, it is critical that they receive thorough exams at least once per year, both to monitor their current health and to manage that health over time. Wellness care provides the opportunity to prevent and detect disease in its earliest stages, vastly improving the chances of a positive outcome. Even animals that show no outward signs of illness could be suffering from the early onset of a medical problem which, if left undetected, could turn into a much more serious and costly situation for you down the road.

Bridge Street Veterinary Hospital places a strong emphasis on wellness care. Our wellness services are designed to address your pet’s current health care needs, and to adapt as those needs change over time. The result is the most precise, highly effective care available. We’ve got wellness plans for animals of all breeds and ages, and we can even design a customized plan specifically for your pet to help them achieve a lifetime of good health.

Wellness visits at BSVH include a comprehensive physical exam, through which we will examine and evaluate your pet to ensure that his or her body is functioning just as it should. We’ll check your pet’s eyes, ears, nose, mouth and skin, and also listen to the heart and lungs. We may recommend additional diagnostic tests to further analyze your companion’s health. Wellness visits are also a chance for us to discuss and make recommendations on such things as vaccinations, parasite control, nutrition and weight management, behavior and anything else deemed important in keeping your pet happy and healthy.

Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, wellness visits give all of us at Bridge Street Veterinary Hospital the chance to really get to know you and your pet. We believe that establishing a relationship based on trust and understanding provides the foundation of a lifetime of quality care for your pet, and we strive to create the most customized, effective health care plan possible to help improve the chances of you both enjoying many healthy years of companionship.

Don’t make the mistake of waiting until your pet becomes sick or injured to bring them in for veterinary care. Make a commitment to ongoing wellness care and give your cherished animal family member the gift of a lifetime of good health.
